Christmas 2008

Just the three of us this year. Last night we all watched The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Dorissa slept until 9:00 am and went to bed at 10:00 pm, so it was an easy morning for David and I. At least I thought so - plenty of time for me to get up at 7:00 am, run out to the car, stuff the stockings and wrap a few last minute gifts for Santa. David however sat in bed in dread fear that the sleeping bundle next to him would awaken and then what would he say? "Like the Wells' always said - I've gone downstairs to check if Santa is still here or if he is running late." I don't know why he didn't buy that, sounds totally reasonable to me - isn't that how every family did it?

I'd like to write a few things each week about what we are doing, but somehow, whenever I'm confronted with a blank page, I just freeze up. May as well start here and now though.
Today the family room is pretty good, but the living room, dining room and our bedroom are a trainwreck. David likes to keep all of the used wrapping paper out because he feels it looks festive, whereas I think it just looks like trash!

Dorissa is prancing about in a pink dress-up dress from Mark (how does he know SO much about what 5 year old girls like?) pearl crown and new gold sparkle shoes. The dollhouse furniture from Lisa and Kenny was a big hit, but we had a small disaster when the itty bitt, teeny, tiny, gumball machine broke immediately and spewed it's contents about the living room. Presents included a set of polly-pockets with removable heads, torsos and legs, mix-and-match style. It's truly a toy out of Franny K. Stein! The TV has been OFF for all of 8-hours (halleulia) due to the influx of new toys.

I am the proud owner of cashmere socks - yea warm feet, silk long underwear- yea warm self and a new Wii gaming system. David is also plotting to buy one of those huge TVs and a cabinet to go with it. I've no real objection but I would like somethings to move OUT of the house along with all of the things that come INTO it.

Projects on deck include: Embroidery for the barony - embarrassingly slow progress, and knitting, either the socks or Dammo’s hat, something needs to progress and possibly some weaving inspired by the same books I keep taking out of the library.
